Storm damage in Macon-Bibb County
Hurricane Helene in September 2024 was the worst tree event in living memory for Middle Georgia, with whole streets in Macon blocked by fallen pines and oaks and power out for days. Most years the damage comes in smaller doses: straight-line winds from spring thunderstorms, the occasional tornado warning, saturated ground in July and August tipping shallow-rooted pines.
